Combo card provides
cost-effective GSM addon
Apertio has chosen Adax's HDC-PCI Combo card for its HLR (home location register) application for GSM networks
The card was chosen for its high density and performance which maximises the efficiency of the Apertio HLR, resulting in a solution with the ability to cope with high traffic rates quickly and efficiently. Also key was the scalability of the Adax card as it enables the capacity and functionality of the HLR to expand with the needs of the network.

Protocol acceleration board boosts performance
Adax has launched the SDCIII AMC, a protocol acceleration board designed to enhance IP network performance by offering packet processing, IP security and signaling capabilities
The Apertio HLR offers GSM operators of all sizes an advanced, open solution to the problems of managing and growing the HLR function at the heart of their network.
It provides a highly extensible, resilient and cost-effective multinode framework that can be viewed by the rest of the GSM network as a single HLR node.
Additionally, its two-tier distributed architecture enhances performance and scalability by allowing the operator to add new signalling capacity without needing to add additional subscriber storage capacity, and vice-versa.

The Adax card doubled the performance initially requested by Apertio.
This gives the HLR the ability to handle high traffic rates with very fast, deterministic responses to every transaction.
The high density of the HDC-PCI Combo provides Apertio with 32 MTP2 links on each card, which maximises the performance of each slot and is completely scalable with the ability to install multiple cards in the system.
The HLR application is based on the TCAP stack that integrates with Adax software at the MTP3/MTP2 level that sits above the card.
The HLR is implemented as an open system based on Unix, and offers standards-based interfaces to all services, including GSM 97 and GPRS.
"The distributed architecture and resilience of the Apertio HLR offers GSM operators an advanced, open solution to the problems of managing and growing the HLR function at the heart of their network", said Paul Magelli, CEO at Apertio.
"The Adax HDC-PCI Combo and MTP2 software provides the performance and scalability we require to cope with the expanding network capacity cost-effectively and efficiently".
