An Electronicstalk guide

Start with the news release Microcontroller targets smart card readers from Atmel, which we summarised at the time by saying "Atmel Corporation has announced the Atmel AVR microcontroller designed for the smart card reader market. ". Several months prior to that, we featured the news release ZF keyboard has integrated smartcard reader from ZF Electronics: "ZF Electronics has announced a special edition of its G83-6744 keyboard with integrated smartcard reader to partner its Smartterminal ST-1044U chipcard reader for use in high-throughput environments. ".

In December 2007, we covered the news from Renesas Technology Europe - take a look at Microprocessor integrates floating point and more which says: "Highly integrated microprocessor targets sophisticated consumer applications such as high-end audio/video equipment, media servers and set-top-boxes.".

Take a look also at the news release from STMicroelectronics, Flash-based microcontroller uses 90nm technology, as well as Smartcard microcontroller boasts a big Flash from Silicon Storage Technology, and Secure MCU offers flexible Flash alternative from Atmel Corporation.
