Zi Corp has reported that revenues increased more than 40% for both the third quarter and first nine months of 2004, compared with prior year periods. The company has posted its second consecutive quarterly profit with a year-to-year bottom line improvement in this year's third quarter of US $1 million. President and CEO Michael D Donnell stated that the third quarter results reflect increasing demand for Zi's predictive text input applications and the impact of significant improvements in its operations and financial strength.

"This year is shaping up to be the best in the history of the company, with strong gains in revenue and significant improvements in profitability", Donnell said.

"On the product front, we have achieved a number of significant advances in the last 12 months and today eZiText and eZiTap are more fully featured than the products of any of our competitors, which we believe positions us as the supplier of choice", said Donnell.

Zi has moved far ahead of the competition with implementation of its products' advanced feature set.

Features such as full word prediction, the ability to learn and remember words and usage patterns, dual language messaging and next word prediction are available today and currently deployed on handsets available now in the market.

"We are currently developing next generation products that will dramatically simplify the user interface and put us in a strong position to significantly expand our market opportunities", he added.

Evidence of deeper technology relationships in the third quarter includes the industry-leading Series 60 platform, which is the world leading smartphone platform and is licensed by some of the foremost mobile phone manufacturers; including Nokia.

With eZiText pre-integration completed and available to Series 60 licensees worldwide, Zi technology is now pre-integrated on all the major operating system platforms for mobile phones.

"We are relentlessly gaining market share and, thanks largely to our focus on innovation, product development and expansion, we are very well positioned to achieve market leadership as the industry's technology innovator", added Donnell.

As of the 2004 third quarter ended, there are more than 103.7 million Zi-enabled handset units in the market with an average of one new Zi-enabled device model released to the market each day.

There are now 677 device models with Zi technology embedded as of 30th September 2004, up from 345 a year earlier.

The number of new models and handset units with Zi technology embedded are among the leading indicators of the progress the Company is making in expanding its market penetration.

During the quarter Zi also launched an advanced Version 2 of the award-winning eZiTap FEP download that matches the advanced feature set of the embedded eZiTap product including dual language messaging, next word prediction and smarter punctuation.

Today, eZiTap is the number one, best selling download software product on Handango's online store for the Sony Ericsson P800 and P900 line of phones.

And Zi has received very positive reviews from Handango customers, with users claiming eZiTap as an essential tool and citing usage of the product as much as 20 times a day.
