Thanigasalam takes on business development
ZBD Displays has appointed Manoj Thanigasalam as Vice-President Business Development.

ZBD Displays has appointed Manoj Thanigasalam as Vice-President Business Development. Henri-Luc Martin, CEO, ZBD Displays, comments, "We are excited to welcome Manoj. With his broad experience and track record in the electronics industry, Manoj is ideally suited to drive ZBD's business strategy; defining target LCD product markets and segments, building relationships with key OEMs and LCD manufacturers and securing strategic business agreements".
With over 18 years in the electronic devices and semiconductor markets, Thanigasalam has held a variety of senior business development and general management positions, most recently with Sony Semiconductors and Devices Europe.
In his role as General Manager of Marketing and Application for Mixed Signal Products, he was instrumental in the commercial direction of Sony's wireless and digital TV products.
He formulated strategy to penetrate the mobile communication and digital TV markets and defined tactical plans to develop business opportunities within Sony's tier one customers.
Under his guidance, the strategy to grow the business from $50 million to $200 million by 2006 was well on target.
Thanigasalam has also held positions including Key European Account Manager at Advanced RISC Machines (ARM), Customer Marketing Manager at LSI Logic Europe, Senior Product Marketing Engineer at Texas Instruments and Development Engineer at Philips Research Laboratories.
Thanigasalam comments, "ZBD is already making great headway with a number of successful collaborative projects in progress, such as the agreement with Hong Kong's Varitronix International and the joint development programme with Merck KgaA".
Thanigasalam continues, "My plan is to continue to drive and develop ZBD's business so that we ultimately become the display technology of choice for future portable applications, from mobile phones to portable computers".
