Wintegra has strengthened its European operations with the appointment of Andrew Turnbull as its new European Sales Director, based at Winegra's European headquarters near Glasgow, Scotland. Andrew had previously worked for Wind River as its European Sales and Marketing Manager for Development Tool Products, and more recently as its North Western District Sales Manager with responsibility for sales of development tool products across the Nordic countries, the UK and Ireland, and South Africa. Turnbull has a BSc in technology and business studies and an MSc in international marketing, both from the University of Strathclyde.
He began his career with Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector, working in Motorola's offices in East Kilbride and Aylesbury in the UK, and in its Austin, Texas, facility in the USA.
During this time he was involved in the promotion of its 68000 and PowerPC-based product portfolio both to tier one customers and to the distribution channel, and was responsible for spearheading the promotion of ColdFire technology into the European market.
He left Motorola in 1998 to join Software Development Systems, which later became part of Wind River.
Turnbull is married, and is a keen golfer.
He is also an enthusiastic - but no longer playing - member of his local rugby club, and takes an active part in following Scotland's international rugby team.
