Halam Rose of 7 Layers UK has been appointed a BQB (Bluetooth Qualifying Body) by the Bluetooth SIG

A BQB is a person authorised by the Bluetooth Qualification Review Board to provide services to Bluetooth SIG members seeking Bluetooth product qualification. Rose is the second BQB at 7 Layers UK, bringing the total to five BQB's within the 7 Layers Group and further strengthening 7 Layers' global position as a leader in Bluetooth qualification.

Currently there are only five BQBs in the UK and 36 BQBs worldwide.

With over 1 million Bluetooth chips shipped globally each week, Bluetooth is rapidly becoming a standard wireless connectivity feature in many mobile phones, PDAs and cars.

Bluetooth wireless technology is also being used in industrial applications where the cost of installing cabling is saved whenever a Bluetooth radio link is used.

The use of ready approved Bluetooth components and reference designs makes adding Bluetooth to products straight forward, lower risk and cost effective.

Halam Rose, BQB, 7 Layers UK said: "As a BQB I am involved in the Bluetooth Technical Advisory Board which works to resolve problems with the Bluetooth specification and to develop consistent qualification strategy".

"So, in addition to providing formal Bluetooth approvals services to our customers, I am better positioned to help customers decide on the best approach for their current and future Bluetooth product strategies".

Michael J Kirwan, Bluetooth Qualification Administrator, Bluetooth SIG, commented: "Halam's background and knowledge of testing and qualification will likely prove to be a valuable asset for the SIG community".

"We genuinely welcome Halam as a BQB and look forward to his continued participation with Bluetooth".

7 Layers has Bluetooth qualification and test facilities (BQTF's) in the UK, USA and Germany.

And through strong relationships and collaboration with industry leading partners such as CSR in Cambridge, 7 Layers is able to help companies accelerate their development efforts and cut time to market.

7 Layers' Bluetooth approvals service includes testing of Bluetooth products for both Bluetooth SIG approval and regulatory approval.

These services also extend to their GSM/GPRS handset customers for which they do the GSM equivalent.
