Wordsworth Technology has announced the introduction of the new RoHS compliant IVC-8371P multichannel MPEG4 audio/video capture card from IEI Technology.

The high performance IVC-8371P includes four channels of video and audio MPEG4 hardware encoding to provide real-time VGA quality video and stereo audio capture for each channel.

The use of a hardware codec instead of software compression means 25-50% less system resources are required allowing the IVC-8371P to run smoothly on an Intel Celeron 400MHz embedded platform rather than a Pentium 4.

It is ideal for low-cost and multichannel video capture applications such as surveillance systems.

The IVC-8371P provides multistandard video output including MPEG4/H.263/MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 and is PCI V2.1 compliant, supporting plug and play.

The high performance MPEG-4 codec chipset encodes and displays multichannel video simultaneously in real time.

The four stereo audio channels have sample rates of 8, 44.1 and 48kHz, with an 8bit data depth and PCM and ADPCM audio compression data formats (G.726 encoding standard).

The composite video input is via four BNC connectors and auto-senses NTSC, Pal and Secam formats.

In the output stream the following video resolutions and frame rates are supported for NTSC: 720 x 480 at 1-30Hz, 720 x 240 at 1-60Hz, and 360 x 240 at 1-120Hz.

Chroma format conversion filtering is also provided.

The video performance supports DVD quality full D1 video at 3Mbit/s, high quality full D1 video at 1Mbit/s, and high quality CIF video at 384Kbit/s.

MPEG-4 Advanced Simple-Profile L5 (ISO/IEC14496-2), MPEG-2 MP ML (ISO/IEC13818-2), and MPEG-1 (ISO/IEC 1172-2) video compression is also supported.

Drivers are available for both Windows 2000 and Windows XP, and developers also have access to a software development kit and a demonstration program for software application development.
