Wolfson Microelectronics has expanded its US-based operations in response to a growing demand for its technology from US companies

Last year Wolfson experienced robust growth with its focus on the consumer electronics market, resulting in a turnover increase in excess of 50% through its North American business unit, and greater than 30% in Europe. "We achieved significant growth in America last year", said David Milne, managing director.

"Thanks to our success in the consumer audio market where we were able to penetrate many of the brand name companies.

During the past year our technology has been integrated into the Apple iPod, Microsoft's new xBox, Toshiba's e740 PDA and many other leading brands".

Immediate additions to Wolfson's sales team include Jerry Suhr, who will take responsibility for western region sales and Jeff Rozmus, who has responsibility for eastern region sales.

Suhr has previous experience in multimedia audio sales as well as expertise in supporting, the sometimes complex, design process for US-based companies with manufacturing centres in Asia.

Rozmus will leverage his expertise in applications' design to assist customers in selecting the right parts for their designs.

In addition to expanding its sales team, Wolfson plans to expand its US marketing and technical support staff.
