Wolfson Microelectronics has earned a prestigious export award from the Scottish Council For Development and Industry

Wolfson Microelectronics' success in exporting 90% of its output of high performance mixed signal devices to customers including Microsoft has earned a prestigious export award from the Scottish Council For Development and Industry. Wolfson Microelectronics was chosen as the initial provider of the analogue audio DACs for Xbox.

Congratulating Wolfson on its award, Scottish Enterprise's Senior Director of International Operations, Martin Togneri said: "This represents deserved recognition for the effort that Wolfson has invested to develop its business from a boutique consultancy and design agency into a world beating technology company, capable of developing specific products for customers and managing its production through independent manufacturers around the world".

"Through securing exclusive supply contracts with global players like Microsoft, Wolfson has substantially increased exports and is showing that Scottish expertise and innovation is leading the world in many crucial knowledge based industries".

Collecting the Export Award, Wolfson's Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Mike Clancy said: "Receiving this award is important recognition for the company.

We've worked hard over the last few years to build up our design expertise and IP.

At the same time we have established world-class manufacturing through industry's leading foundries in Singapore, Taiwan and Korea".

The company was presented with the Scottish Development International sponsored export award by Minister for Enterprise, Lifelong Learning and Transport, Wendy Alexander, at a ceremony in Glasgow.

Scottish Development International is the arm of Scottish Enterprise responsible for attracting overseas investors and encouraging and supporting Scottish companies to expand overseas.

The export award celebrates export success, technology innovation and corporate responsibility of Scottish companies and is awarded in association with British Airways and legal firm DLA.
