Wind River Systems has joined The Open Group's Real-Time and Embedded Systems Forum
The Open Group is a vendor- and technology-neutral consortium dedicated to enterprise integration, and the Real-Time Embedded Systems Forum is dedicated to growing the marketplace for standardised real-time and embedded systems. The Open Group includes leading companies from industry, government and academia such as IBM, Sun Microsystems, the Defense Information Systems Agency and the Embedded Systems Laboratory of MIT.

Through The Open Group's Real-Time and Embedded System Forum, Wind River will work with industry leading real-time and embedded systems vendors, along with corporate and government organisations, to promote and ensure standardisation in the embedded industry.
Specifically, Wind River will focus on driving security standards for embedded development.
Wind River works with customers in five vertical markets - aerospace and defence, automotive, digital consumer, industrial and network infrastructure - and will work with the Open Group Real-Time and Embedded Systems Forum to address the challenges faced in real-time and embedded development in each.
"By working with The Open Group, Wind River will drive standardisation for secure and reliable real-time and embedded systems while collaborating with suppliers, practitioners, and existing industry standards groups in order to define standards, and develop test and certification programs", said Steve Blackman, Director of Market Development, Aerospace and Defence for Wind River.
