Resistor offers effective overcurrent protection
A new device offers a cost effective solution for board level overcurrent protection where resettable fusing is unnecessary, and can replace fuse and resistor combinations with a single component
Welwyn Components has a new circuit protection component for low voltage circuitry in instrumentation and consumer applications. Designated the WFF Series, the resistor offers defined safe fusing characteristics together with a range of series resistance values, thus allowing it to perform inrush limiting or EMC filtering functions, as well as fusible protection.

Dreamliner deal underlines aerospace expertise
Contract to supply microcircuits and custom resistor products for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is expected to be worth GBP 10 million over the next 15 years
Aimed at board level overcurrent protection, the WFF offers a cost effective solution where resettable fusing is unnecessary, and can replace fuse and resistor combinations with a single component.
There are three body sizes with 0.25 to 1W ratings, and resistance values from 0R1 to 27k, offering a range of fusing currents from 20mA to 6.3A.
The series handles peak powers to 50W and peak voltages exceed 1000V.
The RoHS compliant axial parts have UL94V0 flameproof coating. Request a free brochure from TT Electronics Welwyn Components....
