Lockheed Martin has selected Vmetro's MDR modular data recorder to aid in testing the Hawkeye Target Sight System (TSS) for the "Cobra" attack helicopter update programme. The TSS is an advanced electro-optic, infra-red sensor system designed to provide target detection, recognition, and identification at extremely long ranges during day or night operations and in challenging environments. Vmetro's MDR was selected to be part of TSS tests primarily because of its rugged construction, ability to sustain high-bandwidth data recording and the ease with which it could be integrated into the system.

"TSS required a data recorder that could easily be integrated with other systems, withstand a harsh environment, and deliver real-time, deterministic performance", said Richard Benton, TSS Technical Director for Lockheed Martin.

"This collaboration enables Lockheed Martin to leverage Vmetro's engineering expertise to get to market faster", said Thomas Nygaard, Vmetro's Chief Technology Officer.

"The selection of Vmetro by Lockheed Martin reinforces our position as the premier provider of data recording systems".
