Vicor has added nine mid-power Mini DC/DC convertors to its 300V-input family: 100W models with 2 and 3.3V outputs and 150W models with 5, 12, 15, 24, 28, 36 and 48V output options. The modules - which incorporate Vicor's patented low-noise zero-current and zero-voltage switching (ZCS/ZVS) - can be used in a variety of applications, including offline systems with autoranging front ends, industrial and process control, distributed power, medical, ATE, communications, defence and aerospace.
Low-noise ZCS/ZVS greatly reduces the design effort and filtering costs required for power convertors to meet agency conducted emissions requirements.
The 300V-input Mini family now comprises 17 models with output voltages spanning 2 to 48V DC and power levels from 100 to 250W.
The convertors operate from 300V nominal input, with an input range of 180 to 375V.

Factorised architecture promises power efficiency
Vicor has released a full family of VI Chip components, enabling complete power systems using factorised power architecture (FPA)
Efficiencies range up to 89% for the higher output voltages.
These models are available in five different environmental grades, with six different pin options and three baseplate options.
They can also be configured in any combination using Vicor's PowerBench tools, which allow a customer to configure an infinite array of custom module designs online, and verify them in real time.
The modules, which are optionally available as RoHS compliant, are a compact 57.9 x 55.9 x 12.7mm in size, with a height above board of just 10.9mm.
They complement Vicor's already broad range of DC/DC convertors, providing designers with additional cost-effective options to meet the needs of their applications.
