Vishay Intertechnology has completed installation of new dicing, laser trimming and laser scribing and drilling systems in its Electro-Films facility in Warwick, Rhode Island.
According to Vishay Electro-Films, the new dicing systems have dramatically increased yields while reducing downtime by an estimated 85% over older systems.
All parts information is now digitally catalogued in the system.
The Warwick facility now has the world's most modern laser trimming operation, providing the highest precision in beam positioning combined with ultrastable diode-powered lasers for the smallest spot size in the industry.
All systems employ pattern recognition for fully automatic and repeatable operation.
New laser scribing and drilling systems combine the same advantages, plus reduced thermal effects.
"Not only will these machines enable us to set new standards for quality and throughput, they will also enhance Vishay Electro-Films' ability to support more intricate HDI designs and individually designed substrates", says Glyndwr Smith, Vishay's Senior Vice President for Marketing Intelligence.
