Educational site covers formal verification
Verplex Systems has launched an online educational website for designers and verification engineers.

Verplex Systems has launched an online educational website for designers and verification engineers. The site, named "Project Golden Silicon" was designed as an interactive resource that can be used throughout the design cycle for up-to-date information on assertion-based, functional and formal verification. Online resources include streaming multimedia lectures, demonstrations and testimonials covering wide-ranging topics, including assertion-based verification, formal specification languages, simulation, functional coverage, equivalence checking and transistor-level verification techniques.
The website currently features a whiteboard presentation on assertion-based and formal verification by Harry Foster, Verplex's chief architect, who also co-authored the Kluwer Academic Publishers textbook, "Principles of verifiable RTL", and serves as chairman of Accellera's formal language committee.
The website also includes video interviews with designers and executives, white papers, demonstrations of Conforma Logic Equivalence Checker (LEC), Conformal Logic Transistor Extractor (LTX) and BlackTie functional checker, and has additional links to external resources.
As verification technologies advance, the site will be updated with more resources including books, additional white papers, workshops and seminars.
"We launched this site to provide a central resource where designers and verification engineers can learn how others are implementing advanced verification technologies such as assertion checking", says Harry Foster.
"Visitors to the site will find timely, high-quality educational resources covering a variety of formal and functional verification techniques".
Dino Caporossi, Verplex vice president of corporate marketing, adds: "We're equipping designers and hardware engineers with the information they need to achieve rigorous, thorough verification from RTL through final layout, giving them greater confidence in their next generation design flows".
The website is fully interactive, enabling visitors to post questions and feedback.
