Audio amplifier simplifies entertainment
design
Audio line driver integrates a charge pump to allow a complete audio output signal chain to run from a single 3.3V power supply.
Texas Instruments has introduced a 2V RMS DirectPath audio line driver targeting home entertainment applications where size and cost are critical design parameters The latest addition to TI's audio amplifier portfolio provides customers with the flexibility to operate from a 3.3V power supply to reduce total system cost and to adjust input gain levels to optimise performance in television peripherals such as set-top boxes, HDTV receivers, DVD players, gaming consoles and portable media players

RF platform brings three radios together
Texas Instruments has developed the industry's first solution that integrates mobile WLAN (mWLAN), Bluetooth and FM stereo audio all in a space-saving platform for mobile phones.
Housed in a space-saving 4 x 4mm package, the DRV601 integrates a charge pump to allow a complete audio output signal chain to run from a single 3.3V power supply, leading to a significant reduction in the number of components required for a 2V RMS ground biased output.
In addition, the DRV601 provides designers with the flexibility to vary the input gain, allowing a full 5.6V peak-peak or 2V RMS output from any audio source.
The DRV601 also features: a wide power supply range from 1.8 to 4.5V; independent right and left channel shutdown control; short-circuit and thermal protection; pop reduction circuitry; and better than 105dB dynamic range.
The DRV601 extends TI's high-performance analogue and DSP products for home entertainment audio, including audio data convertors, Class-D and PurePathDigital audio amplifiers and audio clocks.
The DRV601 is well-suited for TI's high performance digital-to-analogue convertors such as the PCM177x family.
TI provides the silicon, software, systems expertise and support for the entire audio signal chain, enabling customers to get to market quickly.
The DRV601 is available today in a 4 x 4mm thin QFN package.
Suggested resale pricing is US $0.90 in 100-piece quantities.
