At Cartes 2002, TUV Product Service demonstrates its type approval services for manufacturers of smart card terminals. TUV Product Service enables manufacturers of terminal equipment to inspire confidence among prospective customers in the integrity of card/terminal interaction though certification to applicable specifications, standards and directives. Because non-compliances in smart card terminals can stem from failures in the design of hardware or software, TUV Product Service's type approval process examines both sources of risk.

Furthermore, terminal manufacturers can take advantage of other TUV Product Service offerings to gain the cost and time benefits of a unique single-source solution: EMC, safety, radio and telecomms test and certification services leading to CE marking of the terminal; and BABT product certification and regulatory services leading to the globally respected BABT certification mark in relation to the terminal/network interface.

TUV Product Service's laboratory in Japan is accredited by Visa to run all EMVCo test cases to Levels 1 and 2.

In 2001, TUV Product Service in Fareham became the first UK laboratory accredited by Europay for EMV Level 2 testing of debit/credit smart card terminal devices.

The company is already the sole supplier of Mondex type approval of electronic purse devices worldwide.

Manufacturers of vending units, automatic teller machines, retail devices and other terminal equipments have gained competitive advantage through TUV Product Service's assistance with compliance issues.

For even the most innovative of products, the company offers a one-stop service embracing consultancy on electrical and mechanical design and software design, precompliance confidence testing, and type approval testing leading to preparation of a final report for submission to the appropriate authority.
