Licence boosts GPRS into China
China's largest manufacturer of mobile phones has licensed TTPCom's GPRS (2.5G) platform
TCL Mobile Communication, China's largest manufacturer of mobile phones, has licensed TTPCom's GPRS (2.5G) platform. Using TTPCom's software TCL will be able to develop advanced handsets that offer users new services based on the higher datarates available on 2.5G networks. Dr Tony Milbourn, Managing Director at TTPCom commented: "TCL and TTPCom have been working together for some time now and TCL have recently launched their first GSM phones using TTPCom's GSM software into the Chinese market.

TCL have developed a leading position in China's mobile phone market and by working with TTPCom we are able to take full control of the product development", stated Dr WAN Mingjian, CEO of TCL Mobile.
TTPCom has been conducting business in China since 1994 and in the year ended March 2002 almost 10% of TTPCom's revenue, came directly from China.
