Milestone for 1.8in HDD production
Toshiba has surpassed cumulative production of 25 million 1.8in hard disk drives, and reckons this milestone confirms that the hard disk drive revolution has finally arrived
Since its launch in 2000, Toshiba's industry leading small form factor drive has pushed hard disk technology into some of the world's leading consumer electronics devices from MP3 players to GPS navigations systems and mobile entertainment systems. The company, which currently offers a full line of 1.8in HDDs at capacities of 20, 30, 40 and 60Gbyte, is also continuing to push the storage capacities of mobile HDDs with the announcement that it has shipped its second drive based on perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) delivering 80Gbyte of storage.
