Development kit opens
up more FPGA gates
Trenz Electronic has expanded its range of low-cost Spartan FPGA development kits by a new FPGA development board based on the latest 400k gate Spartan-IIE device
With the Spartan-IIE family, Xilinx is delivering high-I/O devices to FPGA and ASIC customers for low-cost applications. With the new XC2S400E (400,000 system gates and 410 I/Os), designers currently using gate arrays or ASICs can easily migrate to Spartan FPGAs without the associated high NRE (nonrecurring engineering) costs, long design cycles or risks.

The TE-XC2SE-400 development board is equipped with a XC2S400E 400k gate Spartan-IIE FPGA in an FT256 package.
Especially tailored to system implementations (SoC projects using processor IP cores, such as MicroBlaze), the board features 16Mbit Flash and 4Mbit SRAM.
A rich blend of communication interfaces include RS232, VGA output and USB.
LEDs, switches and a liquid crystal display are integrated for easy user diagnostics.
Up to 100 of the Spartan's most comprehensive programmable I/Os are available on a robust VG96 connector to the user.
