Software and ICs enable broadband comms
Broadband phone company Vonage and Texas Instruments are extending their relationship to include TI VoIP software and semiconductors in new Vonage-compatible communications products
Broadband phone company Vonage and Texas Instruments are extending their relationship to include TI VoIP software and semiconductors in new Vonage-compatible communications products available from partners Viseon and VTech Communications. The two new devices, which will be shown at CES 2005, include the world's first digital home telephone for VoIP from Viseon, and a cordless broadband telephone system from VTech.

Both are compatible with Vonage's service and are expected to be available in 2005.

The latest offerings from Viseon and VTech demonstrate how the TI-Vonage alliance spurs the creation of new broadband products for consumers and businesses to use in managing their voice services through cable, DSL or Wi-Fi connections.

Viseon's Digital Home Telephone for VoIP incorporates technology from TI's VoIP and digital media groups, including TI's TNETV1050 IP phone processor and DSP-based TMS320DM64x digital media processor.
Compatible with Vonage's broadband telephony service, it features the highest quality video encoding/decoding system on the market today, and includes full wideband voice capability.
VTech's ip8100-2 Broadband Telephone incorporates TI's TNETV1060 VoIP gateway chipset, enabling consumers to benefit from high quality voice applications compatible with Vonage's service.
It includes a cordless handset with enhanced clarity and security, coupled with a base unit featuring a fully integrated telephone adapter with a WAN and PC port so that broadband connectivity can be shared without using a router.
TI has supplied solutions to the IP telephony industry since its inception, and is the leading provider of VoIP software and silicon solutions.
According to an In-Stat/MDR November 2003 report, TI currently holds roughly 80% of the total VoIP integrated circuit (IC) shipment volume for the IP phone, CPE gateway and infrastructure gateway segments of the market.
With more than 30,000 lines being added to its network every month, Vonage is the fastest growing telephony company in North America, logging more than ten million calls per week.
