Big claims for speedy dual DACs
The DAC5662/72 are billed as the industry's highest performing dual 200Msample/s D/A convertors
Expanding its portfolio of data offerings, Texas Instruments has released two devices it bills as the industry's highest performing dual 200Msample/s D/A convertors. The superior design of the DAC5662/72 devices helps to eliminate cross-channel interference, reduces noise and minimises signal distortion in intensive signal processing applications such as wireless infrastructure, communications, video-imaging, and multimedia.

The unmatched performance of the 200-Msample/s DACs allows for increased system capabilities, delivering an SNR of 77dBc and increased SFDR of 84dBc at 5MHz and 100Msample/s, which reduces filtering thus saving system components and board space.
Also, with their low power dissipation of 311mW at 100Msample/s, the DACs reduce operating costs, improve system reliability while boosting higher channel density in 3G basestations.
Their mode of operation is flexible, each can be used as a standard dual DAC as well as in an interleaved data mode.

Additionally, the DAC5662/72 can accept multiplexed data in the interleave mode and features tight gain and offset matching for minimising IQ imbalance in baseband sampling applications.
These new additions to TI's family of digital to analogue convertor family of products are also pin compatible with the DAC290x series.
'These DACs offer combined high sample-speed, performance and low power which are critical issues for 3G base stations manufacturers', said Mike Walker, Product Manager for high speed digital and analogue convertors within TI's analogue high speed communications group.
'We are pleased to extend TI's technology leadership in the high-performance digital-to-analogue convertor industry'.
TI delivers a complete signal chain solution for wireless infrastructure OEMs.
TI's end-to-end approach, developed over 20 years, allows customer to better use development time and dollars on creating differentiated products and services.
Complementing the analogue portion of the signal chain with the DAC5662/72 and other high performance analogue parts, TI offers a broad portfolio of high speed, high performance analogue products.
TI also provides developers using the device access to applicable evaluation modules for easy integration of the DAC5662/72 into basestations as well as other target applications.
The DAC5662 and DAC5672 are available now.
