Transceivers mop up external components
Three new full-featured, low-power 5V half-duplex RS485 transceivers offer best-in-class bus-pin electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection of 15 kV
With an industry-standard SN75176 footprint and integrated receiver failsafe design, these products eliminate the need for external components and provide a rich feature set for applications such as industrial automation and battery-powered applications such as electricity meter designs. TI's SN65HVD485 and SN65HVD308x half-duplex transceivers are ideal for RS485 databus networks.

Powered by a 5V supply, they are fully compliant with the TIA/EIA485A standard.
