The TS5L100 and the TS3L100 are quad single-pole double-throw LAN switches that meet the necessary requirements to support both 10Base-T and 100Base-T Ethernet signalling

Providing notebook computer designers with high-performance switching solutions for high-frequency LAN applications, Texas Instruments has added two new specialty switches to its TS family of signal switches: the TS5L100 and the TS3L100. These new specialty switches are quad single-pole double-throw (SPDT) LAN switches that meet the necessary requirements to support both 10Base-T and 100Base-T Ethernet signalling.

Prior mobile computing designs entailed implementing an Ethernet media access controller (MAC) and an Ethernet physical layer (PHY) device on the docking station increasing total system cost.

Designers are able to reduce this redundant circuitry by using the TS5L100 or TS3L100 without sacrificing signal quality.

The TS5L100, operational from 6 to 6.5V, and the TS3L100, operational from 3.0 to 3.6V, offer low differential crosstalk (typically -60 and -55dB, respectively).

A wide bandwidth of 350MHz minimum coupled with low power consumption (3uA maximum current drain) and low on-state resistance (3 and 5ohm, respectively) make the devices appropriate for high-frequency LAN applications.

Both devices are also fully specified for partial-power-down applications.

The TS5L100 and the TS3L100 are offered in the space saving, low profile 16-pin QFN (RGY) package along with the SSOP (DBQ) and TSSOP (PW) packaging.

Both the TS5L100 and the TS3L100 are currently available to sample in some package options.

Budgetary pricing for both the TS5L100 is set at $1.69 in quantities of 1000 and TS3L100 is set at $2.07 in quantities of 1000.
