The ADS8411 and ADS8412 target advanced applications requiring high speed and high resolution, such as medical imaging, portable medical instruments, high-speed data acquisition, automated test equipment, communications and optical networking. The ADS8411 and ADS8412 feature 16bit no missing code performance, 175mW power dissipation, and 86 and 90dB signal-to-noise ratio, respectively.
These data convertors offer designers a complete solution by integrating an internal reference and reference buffer.
"TI has once again proven leadership in data convertor technology by extending our own record for the fastest 16bit SAR ADCs on the market.
No other 16bit SAR convertor achieves 2Msample/s", said Tony Chang, strategic marketing engineer for TI's data acquisition products.

The SAR-based architecture, in contrast to high-speed pipeline and delta-sigma architectures, has the advantage of no latency conversion, which is ideal for multiplexed or servo-control applications.
Additionally, the DC performance of these devices, especially offset and offset drift, is far superior to other high-speed ADCs currently available.
All members of TI's high-speed 16 and 18bit ADC family are offered in pin-compatible packages, providing designers with a comprehensive upgrade path from 1.25 to 2Msample/s and from 16 to 18bit resolution.
The ADS8411 offers a unipolar, single-ended input range, whereas the ADS8412 uses unipolar, differential inputs with a bipolar range, which are common to many high-speed ADCs.
Both devices offer a full 16bit interface as well as an 8bit interface option which allows data to be read with two 8bit cycles, if more suitable to the application.
The ADS8411 and ADS8412 come in 48-lead TQFP packages, and are available now from TI and its authorised distributors.
The ADS8411 is priced from $20.95 in 1000-piece quantities.
The ADS8412 is priced from $21.95 in 1000-piece quantities.
All prices are suggested resale.
Evaluation modules are also available.
