Industry's fastest claim
for delta-sigma convertor
Continuing to extend the performance and innovation in precision data conversion, Texas Instruments has developed the industry's fastest 16bit delta-sigma ADC
The ADS1605 features an industry-record 5Msample/s datarate with outstanding high-speed performance: 88dB signal/noise ratio (SNR), -99dB total harmonic distortion (THD) and 101dB spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR). The combination of high-speed and high-precision is ideal for demanding measurement requirements in scientific instrumentation, automated test equipment, data acquisition, medical imaging and vibration analysis.

Webcast to address wireless power optimisation
Texas Instruments and Avnet Electronics Marketing will present a live Analog eLab webcast on 'Optimising power in low-power wireless systems' on 12th April 2006
'The ADS1605 is twice as fast as the nearest delta-sigma competition and has roughly a 10 to 15dB advantage in the key performance areas of SNR, THD and SFDR over competitive devices utilising other architectures.
And when measuring small input signals, it further outperforms the competition with unprecedented low-level THD and SFDR', said Jim Todsen, Product Line Manager for TI's oversampling data convertor products.
'The ADS1605 is also the lowest priced solution within this performance segment'.
The input signal is measured against a voltage reference that can be generated on-chip or supplied externally.
Digital output data are provided over a simple parallel interface that directly connects to TI's TMS320C6000T DSP family.
An out-of-range monitor reports when the input range has been exceeded.
The ADS1605 features a 2.45MHz input bandwidth (-3dB) and passband ripple less than +/-0.0025dB (to 2.2MHz).
The device operates from a +5V analogue supply and a +3V digital supply.
The digital I/O supply operates from +2.7 to +5.25V, enabling the digital interface to support a range of logic families.
Power dissipation is set by an external resistor and can be reduced when operating at slower speeds (315 to 570mW).
When not in use, the ADS1605 can be powered down with an I/O pin.
The ADS1605 comes in a 64-lead TQFP package incorporating TI's PowerPAD technology, and is available now from TI and its authorised distributors.
Suggested resale pricing starts at $32.05 in 1000 piece quantities.
