Network Associates to
add security to OMAP
Network Associates and Texas Instruments are to work together to provide a wireless security solution for OMAP application processors targeting 2.5G and 3G wireless handsets and other mobile devices
This relationship demonstrates the parties' strong commitment to provide the needed security solutions for the growing wireless industry including mobile operators, platform providers and device manufacturers as reflected in the recent Network Associates wireless security initiative and TI's release of new OMAP processors and complete GSM/GPRS chipsets with the industry's first on-chip security hardware.

By working in conjunction with TI, Network Associates McAfee Security products will be able to communicate below the application layer of devices ensuring that phones using TI's OMAP processors are protected from malicious code.
In support of this initiative, Alain Mutricy, TI Vice President and Worldwide OMAP platform General Manager, will speak at the McAfee Security wireless security event today at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France.
In his presentation, Mutricy will elaborate on the need for handset manufacturers to provide users with protection against malicious threats and content security on handsets using TI's popular OMAP platform.
'Power-efficient and virtually transparent security measures are necessary for the deployment of wireless applications.
TI is focused on developing secure wireless technology to enable increased communication with the optimal combination of performance, increased battery life and enhanced services', said Mutricy.
