The OPA569 power operational amplifier features 2.4A output current and output swing within 200mV of the rails

Texas Instruments has a new power operational amplifier that features 2.4A output current and output swing within 200mV of the rails. The OPA569 is optimised for high-current applications - such as driving thermoelectric coolers, laser diodes, servos, valves and actuators - in optical networking, test and instrumentation, industrial control and medical equipment.

The OPA569 drives a wide variety of resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads while operating on a single 2.7 to 5.5V supply.

Rail-to-rail output swing minimises the amount of heat dissipated in the device's output stage, thereby improving amplifier efficiency and system performance.

This single-chip solution also eliminates the need for discretely built alternatives which consume more space and reduce reliability.

The OPA569 features an accurate user-selected current limit, fast acting shutdown function with output disable and output current monitoring without an external shunt resistor.

Temperature warning (thermal overstress) and current limit flags are provided which directly interface to digital lines.

This easy-to-use device is unity-gain stable, has low DC errors and is free from phase inversion problems commonly found in power amplifiers.

The OPA569 is packaged in the small Texas Instruments PowerPad for easy heat sinking and to keep chip temperature low.

The device is specified for operation over the extended industrial temperature range of -40 to +85C.

The OPA569 is priced from $2.90 in 1000 piece quantities (suggested resale price) and comes in an SO-20 PowerPAD.

It is available today from TI and its authorised distributors.
