Easy control for
hot swap power managers
The TPS2392 and TPS2393 are hot swap power managers optimised for use in nominal -48V systems
Texas Instruments has developed two hot swap power managers optimised for use in nominal -48V systems. Providing designers simple-to-program features that allow precise control of current and voltage during turn-on and operation, TI's new TPS2392 and TPS2393 are ideally suited for -48V distributed power systems, central office switching, optical networking systems and wireless basestations.

The TPS2392 and TPS2393 hot swap power managers operate with supply voltage ranging from -20 to -80V, and are rated to withstand spikes to -100V.
Combined with an external N-channel field effect transistor and sense resistor, they can be used to enable live insertion of plug-in cards and modules in powered systems.
Each device provides load current slew rate control and peak magnitude limiting.
Other features include: programmable under- and overvoltage thresholds and hysteresis; debounced insertion detection inputs; open-drain power-good output; fault timer to eliminate nuisance trips; open-drain fault output; enable input; and a 14-Pin thin shrink small outline package (TSSOP).
TPS2392 and TPS2393 are priced at $1.95 per 1000 units, and are available today from TI and its authorised distributors in North America, Europe, Asia and Japan.
