Pioneer Corp has chosen TI's integrated 1394a-2000 (FireWire) link layer controller for the world's first 1394-enabled DVD player and audio/video receiver

The Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai DVD-audio and SACD player provides consumers the ability to pass high-quality digitally-recorded audio information via the 1394 interface, enabling one simple connection to other audio/video products. Likewise, the Pioneer Elite VSX-49TXi flagship audio/video receiver offers a 1394 interface.

'By using the IEEE1394 technology from Texas Instruments, Pioneer is able to offer consumers a one-wire solution to digital connectivity', said Craig McManis, vice president of marketing for the Home Entertainment Division at Pioneer Electronics (USA).

As with all Pioneer Elite DVD players, consumers are assured the highest quality audio and video reproduction.

The DV-47Ai includes 108MHz/12bit video processing and Legato PROTM, Pioneer's refined frequency range expansion technology for better music reproduction.

They also offer Pioneer's PureCinema progressive scan circuit to faithfully reproduce the original film frames using 2:3 pull-down inverse telecine technology and display them progressively.

If the DVD does not indicate telecine conversion, the PureCinema circuit will process the signal with advanced motion detection and create the new progressive image.

The DV-47Ai enables high resolution digital signals such as LPCM (Linear PCM) and DSD (Direct Stream Digital), as well as offer triple Burr Brown 192kHz/24 bit audio processing, six-channel analogue audio output, bass management, Dolby Digital, DTS and SRS TRU Surround.

The DV-47Ai has the capability of transferring digital audio information from the player to a receiver/preamplifier via IEEE1394.

Currently the IEEE1394 connection allows the digital signal transfer of Dolby Digital, DTS, SACD digital bit-streams, and DVD-audio bit-streams.

The DV-47Ai will be available in the autumn of 2002 at a suggested retail price of $1200.
