Load-share controller equalises parallel supplies
The UCC39002 is an advanced high-performance cost-effective load-share controller that provides increased functionality to parallel multiple independent power supplies
The controller equalises the output currents of several parallel power supplies of high power and high reliability applications in telecommunications, datacommunications and other distributed power systems. In addition, the controller meets Intel's Server System Infrastructure (SSI) load sharing specifications of a single-line load-share bus and scalable load-share voltage for any level of output currents.

TI's UCC39002 controller provides less than 1% current share error between modules at full load by using a low-offset post-package-trimmed current-sense amplifier.
With the amplifier's common mode range of 0 to 15V, the current sense resistor can be placed in either the ground (GND) return path or in the positive output rail of the power supply.
Moreover, the UCC39002 protects the system by disconnecting the unit from the remaining active load share bus supplies when power supplies are being removed or added to the board.
The device also provides system protection by disabling the adjust function when the load share bus is shorted to either the GND or the supply rail.
The UCC39002 controller and its industrial temperature grade counterpart, the UCC29002, are available now from TI and its authorised distributors.
In addition to standard through-hole and surface mount packages, these devices are also offered in space-saving 8-pin MSOPs.
Suggested resale pricing is $0.89 in quantities of 1000.
