Texas Instruments is claiming the industry's fastest CMOS operational amplifiers, featuring 200MHz gain-bandwidth and 360V/us slew rate

This new op amp family from the company's Burr-Brown product line provides the wide bandwidth and high performance critical to high-speed applications such as video processing, ultrasound, optical networking, photodiode amplifier, communications and ADC input buffering. 'The OPA355 is the only truly high-speed CMOS op amp on the market', said Carsten Oppitz, market development engineer for mobile communication at TI in Europe.

'The OPA355 combines low-voltage operation, rail-to-rail output, digital shutdown, and low cost to deliver an unequalled solution for wide-bandwidth applications requiring exceptional AC performance'.

These voltage-feedback devices are unity-gain stable and can drive an output current of +/-100mA.

Bandwidth in unity gain is 450MHz.

Low differential gain and phase error is ideal for demanding video processing applications.

All versions (single, dual and triple) feature a digital shutdown function which provides power savings during idle periods and places the output in a high-impedance state to support output multiplexing.

The OPA355 family is optimised for operation on single or dual supplies, as low as 2.5V (+/-1.25V) and up to 5.5V (+/-2.75V).

Common-mode input range extends 100mV below ground and up to 1.5V from positive supply.

Output swing is within 100mV of the rails.

Other features include low noise (5.8nV/rt-Hz), low input bias current (3pA), and low quiescent current (8.3mA per channel).

The OPA355 (single) is available in SOT23-6 and SO-8 packages, and suggested resale pricing starts at $1.19 in 1000 piece quantities.

The OPA3355 (triple) is packaged in a TSSOP-14 and SO-14, and suggested resale pricing starts at $2.79 in 1000 piece quantities.

The dual OPA2355 is scheduled to be available in 3Q01.
