Russian mobile operator
extends monitoring scope
Mobile TeleSystems has decided to extend its Tektronix network monitoring system to maximise profits from its existing GSM network and enable GPRS deployment
Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), the leading mobile operator in Russia, has decided to extend its Tektronix network monitoring system to maximise profits from its existing GSM network and enable GPRS deployment. In order to retain subscribers and maximise profits, network operators must be able to provide a seamless, wireless experience with quality of service (QoS) while increasing traffic to their network.

Tektronix' NET-7/NET-GPRS network monitoring system and its new Roaming Analysis application helps MTS satisfy their customers' needs in both the home network and roaming.
To successfully optimise and master the evolution from legacy GSM to GPRS and 3G networks, mobile operators must have access to specific analysis of interconnection traffic and effective troubleshooting.
This enables operators to increase revenue derived from next-generation (2.5G and 3G) services.
MTS has chosen the Tektronix NET-7/NET-GPRS monitoring system to provide the necessary tools and best network QoS, in order to ensure Russia's successful GPRS deployment.
"Tektronix has the leading platform and a proven brand that we trust", said Yury Gromakov, MTS Vice President of Technology and Network Development: "For us, the NET-7/NET-GPRS monitoring system is a primary example of this with its ability to streamline operation and maintenance procedures while allowing us to provide superior service to our subscribers".
"By working closely with MTS in its GSM deployments, we can now enable its successful evolution to GPRS services", said Bob Agnes, Vice President, Monitoring and Protocol Test, Tektronix.
"The Tektronix monitoring system provides profiles of network usage and the QoS delivered to subscribers, allowing MTS to provide enhanced services while increasing opportunities for potential revenue".
"The NET-7/NET-GPRS platform easily correlates GSM and GPRS data to enable a successful transition for operators, such as MTS, thus proving the reason why the NET-7/NET-GPRS is the first monitoring system to test the GSM to GPRS network transition in Russia".
