Tektronix has continued its long-term investment in China by officially opening the doors to a new manufacturing facility

The facility will be used for expansion in China, preparing for the future, as the country becomes a large segment of the test and measurement market. The building will initially serve as a primary manufacturing site for the region. Tektronix expects to continue to grow its presence over time by including even more services at the facility.

"China is a major economic power and has become the world's fastest growing major economy over the past decade.

Continued expansion in China allows us to support customers in this major market, which strengthens our overall objective of increasing market penetration", said Rick Wills, CEO and President, Tektronix.

"We have already established a strong relationship with Chinese leadership, based on many years of partnering with them.

Opening this facility demonstrates our long-term commitment to maintaining that relationship and to positioning Tektronix for future growth in China".

Manufacturing plans include production of industry-leading Tektronix TDS1000 and TDS2000 digital storage oscilloscopes, which were designed specifically to be manufactured in China.

These affordable oscilloscopes have once again redefined the low-cost market with new value, performance, and usability features unmatched by other products in their class.

Tektronix is the second largest test and measurement vendor in China and is the undisputed market leader in digital oscilloscopes, video test, and protocol analysers.

The new facility, known as Tektronix (China) Co, is the company's newest operation in China.

Tektronix opened its first office in China in 1983.

In 1992, the company opened its first manufacturing facility.

From 1992 to 2003, Tektronix increased its offices and facilities in the region, received CMC and ISO certification, and began exporting products worldwide.

Currently, Tektronix has 10 locations in China, including sales, service, and manufacturing facilities.

The company's key markets in the region include government research, telecommunication equipment manufacturing and network deployment, aerospace, shipbuilding, PCs and peripherals, consumer electronics, semiconductors, and education.
