Omnitel, the leading GSM mobile operator in the Baltic States, has purchased Tektronix' network monitoring system to offer enhanced services to existing and potential roaming subscribers. Mobile subscribers expect to receive the best possible network connection from their network service provider or operator. In order to retain subscribers and maximise profits, network operators strive to exceed this expectation with a seamless, wireless experience while simultaneously increasing traffic to the network.

With a suite of proven troubleshooting tools including call trace and protocol analysis, Tektronix' NET-7 network monitoring system immediately identifies when existing subscribers experience poor quality of service (QoS), and enables providers such as Omnitel to react before the customer realises the degradation.

Omnitel has chosen Tektronix NET-7 based on this capability as well as the SMS Ciao monitoring system capability, a specific application that enables Omnitel to reach more roaming mobile users by providing individualised services based on their location.

"By working with a test and measurement leader like Tektronix for our network requirements, we are confident that we are providing the best possible service to our subscribers", said Rolandas Ryliskis, Vice President, Omnitel: "The NET-7 monitoring system's ability to gather GSM signalling information and obtain a profile of the network usage and the QoS delivered to subscribers is key to our success".

"As a leading provider of GPRS signalling protocol test equipment, Tektronix is able to provide Omnitel with a dynamic monitoring system that addresses both GSM and GPRS networks", said Bob Agnes, Vice President, Monitoring and Protocol Test, Tektronix: "The flexibility of Tektronix' NET-7 monitoring system also enables operators to improve profitability by meeting subscriber expectations".
