Sarantel's tiny form factor GPS ceramic geo-helix antennas overcome some of the limitations of a traditional flat patch.
The patented Geo-helix design not only gives the Sarantel antennas omnidirectional capabilities requiring no ground plane but also serves to dramatically reduce the detuning effects associated with radomes and with body worn applications.
The Geo-Helix design is available as a passive or an active antenna, the latter having an integrated 24dB gain low noise amplifier (LNA).
The active version is especially suited to applications where the antenna and receiver cannot be co-located and/or for receivers with a 20-30dB input gain tolerance.
The passive version is ideal for low power applications where the antenna and receiver are closely coupled and the receiver has an integrated LNA.
A special reduced gain version of the active Geo-Helix has been developed for use with the latest high sensitivity SiRF based receivers.
Sarantel's Geo-Helix products are particularly suited to applications such as PDAs, smart phones, and other handheld navigation devices.
Jerry Sandys, Managing Director of TDC comments: "The addition of Sarantel sits perfectly within our GPS and wireless portfolio".
"The revolutionary GPS antennas offer compact solutions for the demands of today's navigation market".
