The 90191 Bluetooth module from SMART Modular Technologies reduces development time by enabling Bluetooth functionality in low to medium volumes of new or existing product designs.

Ideally suited to consumer electronic, telematics, medical, telemetry and industrial applications, the module is available with either a board-to-board connector or a board-to-cable ZIF connector for simple integration.

The 90191 allows connection to other devices using the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP) and benefits from an integrated antenna.

Additionally, the module is fully Bluetooth qualified, and so no further approvals are required.

The board-to-cable modules and board-to-board modules measure 17.65 x 32.5 x 4.9 and 17.65 x 32.5 x 4.2mm respectively.

Available configurations include UART and USB interface modules supporting open host controller interface (OHCI) and upper host controller interface (UHCI).

These Class 2 products offer low power consumption and are equipped with six programmable input/output lines.

The 90191 module is based on a single-chip design and includes Bluetooth firmware up to the Host Controller Interface (HCI) level, which allows customers to add their own upper-level stacks.

Additionally a serial port profile (SPP) module is available, which enables the modules to serve as cable replacements.
