TDC has a low-cost, simplified and compact SCXV.22bis modem device from Conexant which it reckons makes quick time to market easily accessible.
Small in size (6.5 x 9.5 x 0.8mm), offering robust performance and delivering a high level of integration, the SCXV.22bis modem device integrates a microcontroller, analogue modem functions, ROM and RAM.
Presenting a complete AT Command driven modem with V.42 and MNP2-4 error correction through a serial host interface, the device is ideal for POS, handheld, portable devices and other embedded applications.
Offering easy migration to higher speeds (V32bis, V34, V90+) with pin to pin compatibility, the SCXV.22bis provides a very compact 2400bit/s modem solution in minimal PCB area.
The SCXV.22bis modem works with Conexant's proprietary SmartDAA 3 line side device which eliminates the need for costly analogue transformers, relay and optoisolators typically used in discrete DAA implementation of country-specific modem configuration.
The SmartDAA 3 system-powered DAA operates reliably without drawing power from the line, unlike line-powered DAAs, which operate poorly when line current is insufficient.
Jerry Sandys, Managing Director of TDC comments, " This modem device is simple to integrate and allows modems to be made in the absolute minimum of board space".
