POL standard boosts current density onboard
Second-generation standard footprint and pinout design for 3 and 6A nonisolated point-of-load DC/DC convertors endorses Tyco's specifications.
The Distributed-power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) has announced a second-generation standard footprint and pinout design for 3 and 6A nonisolated point-of-load (POL) DC/DC convertors.
This second generation of POL standard nearly doubles the current density from the first generation of DOSA standards, meeting industry demand for high-density POL modules.
This new standard establishes the location of pins, recommended pad layout on customer boards, input and output voltage ranges and critical features and parameters required for interoperability and second sourcing.
"Standards development such as this improves second sourcing opportunities that are often thwarted by inconsistencies in technical considerations", says Sabi Varma, General Manager at Tyco Electronics Power Systems.
"We are excited that DOSA has embraced the significance of our latest POL offering by standardising its specifications".
