A new module combines Tyco's high-end A1029-A GPS receiver with a CANbus interface.

Tyco Electronics reckons its new A1035-A GPS module is not just another antenna module - it incorporates Tyco's high-end A1029-A GPS receiver and takes advantage of its communication capabilities by adding a CANbus interface.

This communication channel makes the module especially attractive for automotive applications or in areas, where position, velocity and time information needs to be transmitted over long distance.

The voltage input can range from 7 to 30V reflecting automotive requirements.

Based on SiGe's SE 4100L RF downconvertor and STMicroelectronics' STA2051 GPS processor, the module offers high sensitivity in combination with a short time to first fix.

To support this a battery backup input including the according circuit is integrated.

The product can be customised and will be available for OEM application as a hardware core platform that can be integrated into different enclosures.
