Controller keeps watch over power systems
The 1U high, 19in rack-mounted SC3 controller is the newest product in Tyco Electronics' spring controller platform.
The 1U high, 19in rack-mounted SC3 controller is the newest product in Tyco Electronics' spring controller platform.
The spring controller is designed to fit in the Galaxy Power System (GPS) 4804, 4812 and 4824, and the Infinity Serial Power System H, C and S.
It also fits other battery plants for remote control and monitoring of medium and large communication centre equipment such as power plants, battery strings, AC supply cabinets, auxiliary plants and environmental conditions.
The SC3 controller is designed to operate continuously in temperature conditions from -5 to +55C with input voltage ranges from 36 to 60V.
It can be used to monitor and control the NP Series and 596 Series rectifiers as well as four battery strings.
"The spring controller is our latest controller platform, 1U rack-mounted system which features dual protocols, offering global appeal to customers with low investment, and complementing our controller range", said Sabi Varma, Vice President of Marketing and R and D at Tyco Electronics Power Systems.
"The spring controller furthers Tyco Electronics' ongoing commitment to reliable telecommunications power solutions".
The SC3 controller has an easy-to-use, menu-driven LCD that provides access to two main input switches, AC input voltages, plant output voltage and current, maximum 24 switch mode rectifiers, rectifier individual current and current limit point set, DC distribution status and ambient parameters.
The controller also supports four LVD contactors, battery recharge current limits, battery slope thermal compensation, shorted cell detection, discharge test with reserve time prediction, battery discharge voltage profile and history, load hourly and trend statistics, alarm history, configurable alarm output relays, and configurable alarm inputs.
The SC3 controller features RS485 and RS232 communication technology to support rectifiers, ANSI TI.317 and MII protocol for PC or modem access, and EasyView and Galaxy Gateway compatibility.
It also has the extending network management function for gateway, supporting TCP/IP, SNMP, Telnet and HTTP protocol later.
The LCD and keypad support an English menu.
The SC3 controller will be available in April with a list price starting at $260 per unit.
