Tyco Electronics today has added dead reckoning features to its smallest GPS modules, the A1029A and A1029B.

Tyco Electronics has added dead reckoning features to its smallest GPS modules, the A1029A and A1029B.

After initial implementation on the A1030 model - which besides dead reckoning concurrently supports EGNOS/WAAS, data storage and much more - both the A1029A and A1029B modules now offer dead reckoning functionality as well.

As a result, the two modules are able to determine an accurate position even without access to satellites, eg in tunnels, by processing sensor data.

This development makes the A1029A the smallest dead reckoning module on the market, requiring the fewest external components for correct, continuous position calculation.
