Garin to lead development initiatives
Lionel J Garin has joined Nemerix as Chief Technology Officer
With more than 20 years of GPS-related experience, Garin joins Nemerix from SiRF Technology, where he held the position of Director of Systems Architecture and Technology. As Chief Technology Officer for Nemerix, Garin will lead the company's development initiatives to advance Nemerix's GPS, AGPS and other location technologies for mobile devices and consumer applications.

Since 1998, Garin has focused on assisted-GPS capabilities and indoor high-sensitivity applications.
He has been heavily involved in GPS initiatives for the mobile phone market, where he holds several fundamental patents on the topic.
Garin has contributed to several location based services standards for GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, most notably, to the CDMA IS801/IS801A.

Garin is also heavily involved in the Galileo Programme, where he is applying the experience obtained in GPS/Glonass hybrid GNSS technologies, to this new field of research.

Prior to SiRF Technology, Garin worked at Ashtech/Magellan (now Thales Navigation), at Sagem on inertial navigation systems, and at Electronique Serge Dassault (now part of Thales Navigation) on antiradiation missile and airborne radar defence applications.
Garin holds an MSEE equivalent degree in digital communications, system control and estimation theory, from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications (ENST) in Paris, France, and he has a BS in fundamental physics from Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris France.
