Altium has signed up Transfer Distribution to resell the entire range of products for its Protel board-level design solution, and its revolutionary digital system-on-FPGA design system, Nexar.

Altium Europe has signed a reseller agreement with Transfer Distribution.

Under the terms of the agreement, Altium has authorised Transfer Distribution to resell the entire range of products for its Protel board-level design solution, and its revolutionary digital system-on-FPGA design system, Nexar.

Launched in February 2004, Nexar is a complete development environment that enables engineers to interactively build, test and implement digital systems, including entire processor-based systems, on reprogrammable platforms (FPGAs).

Nexar is unique in that unlike any existing FPGA-based development system it includes all the tools required "in-the-box", provides developers with true design portability and enables a LiveDesign approach to electronics systems development.

Transfer Distribution will resell Altium's products in The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg, and the agreement also includes Altium's P-Cad, CAMtastic and CircuitStudio products.

"Transfer Distribution is highly respected for its long-term EDA expertise, active engineering support, and customised design solutions", said Klaus Pontius, Altium's Regional Director for Europe.

"By adding our design systems to its product lineup, Transfer Distribution will now be able to offer its customers a revolutionary FPGA design solution that makes developing complete system-level applications on a programmable platform accessible to mainstream engineers for the first time".

"The addition of Altium as a solution partner was based on its leadership in embedded CPUs for the FPGA market", said Tonnie Tuinte, founder of Transfer Distribution.

"In today's market, more and more functionality is being embedded into FPGAs and the fact that Altium's product offering is complimentary and synergistic with our EDA offering allows us to raise our ability to offer our customers a more complete solution to FPGA design at an affordable price".
