Video processing IC and specific memory design company AverLogic Technologies has announced its latest AL9V576 A/V capture device reference design with USB 2.0 interface

The reference design is powered by AverLogic's latest AL9V576 MPEG-4/2/1 A/V encoder. The reference design offers an affordable way for evaluating and exploring the quality and performance of AverLogic's MPEG A/V encoding solutions. It provides a plug-and-play high speed USB 2.0 interface to facilitate the evaluation, development and testing of MPEG A/V capture systems.

'As USB is the most popular interface of all notebook and desktop PC, it is a most convenient way to connect audio and video through USB to PC.

Examples of applications are recording and watching TV on PC, editing video, and etc AL9V576 MPEG A/V capture reference design provides the system developers with a complete environment for evaluating AverLogic MPEG solution and for developing MPEG A/V encoding systems through USB interface', says Kyle Chang, President of AverLogic Technologies.

The AL9V576 evaluation board has S-video and RCA composite connectors which can be connected to VCR, DV/V8 camera, DVD player and other video equipment.

The supported video encoder formats are MPEG-4 advanced simple profile, MPEG-2 MP@ML, MPEG-1, variable or constant bit rate (VBR/CBR), programmable GOP structure of I, IP, IBP, IBBP etc.

It supports up to 30frame/s for NTSC and 25frame/s for Pal, and variable resolution from QCIF to full D1.

Meanwhile, the application program provides preview with recording function, time shifting and playback functions.

It also supports multiple file formats such as AVI, DVD, TS, PS, PES, VES, VCD.

The AverLogic AL9V576 MPEG A/V capture device reference design SDK contains: a USB 2.0 audio/video capture evaluation board, schematics, Gerber file and layout files and USB cable; AverLogic A/V player application programs; firmware source code and windows drivers; evaluation board user's manual, AL9V576 datasheets, AL242 datasheets, evaluation board, hardware application notes, evaluation board software application notes.
