Addition of Filtronic Compound Semiconductors' high-volume GaAs fab will significantly reduce RF Micro Devices' GaAs pHEMT sourcing costs and provide additional capacity.

RF Micro Devices is set to acquire Filtronic Compound Semiconductors, a wholly owned subsidiary of Filtronic, for an acquisition price of approximately GBP 12.5 million in cash The acquisition price includes the purchase of Filtronic Compound Semiconductors' 6in GaAs wafer fab at Newton Aycliffe, UK, which is currently a major supplier of GaAs pHEMT semiconductors to RFMD
