With three different technology offerings, Stackpole reckons it can provide the right solution to match the evolving design requirements present in the current consumer marketplace

Stackpole Electronics has three new inductive product series for high frequency applications. With three technology offerings, Stackpole can provide the right solution to match the evolving design requirements present in the current consumer marketplace. The AL series uses a thin-film technology for high reliability and precision tolerances to 1% or +/-1nH.

The CL series is a multilayer technology with good overall characteristics in a cost effective package.

The WL series is a wirewound technology that offers the highest usable frequency range, highest current carrying capability, and the best Q factor of the three technologies.

The combination of these three products ensures that SEI will have the right product for many more high frequency applications than most competitors.

High frequency inductors are specifically used for their frequency dependent properties.

Depending on the technology, size and inductance value, the inductor will pass a certain desired range of frequencies, but will block or attenuate frequencies above the desired range.

This eliminates high frequency noise or interference from communications signals.

The AL thin-film inductor series is available in 0603 and 0402 sizes, in inductance values from 0.2 to 100nH, in tolerances down to 0.1nH or 1%, and with SRF (self-resonant frequency) controlled to within 10%.

The technology characteristics make it ideal for the latest cellphone and PDA applications in addition to wireless network and Bluetooth enabled devices.

Current lead times are 4-6 weeks with typical pricing of $0.02 to $0.03 each in quantities of 10,000 pieces.

The CL multilayer inductor series is available in 0603 and 0402 sizes.

Inductance values range from 1.0 to 220nH, and tolerances are as tight as 0.3nH or 5%.

This product provides a good blend of electrical performance and low cost.

Current lead times are 4-6 weeks with typical pricing of $0.01 to $0.02 each in quantities of 10,000 pieces.

The WL series of wirewound high frequency inductors have the broadest size range from 1008 down to 0402, and broadest inductance range from 1.0nH to 15uH and beyond.

The WL series has the best Q, highest SRF and best current handling of the three series.

Its characteristics make it ideal for a broad range of RF, broadband, and network communications applications.

Current lead times are 4-6 weeks with typical pricing of $0.05 to $0.08 each in quantities of 10,000 pieces.

Applications for the high frequency inductors include: cellphones, all types of GPS enabled devices, wireless or Bluetooth enabled devices, cordless phones, security devices, set top boxes, DSL and cable modems, PDAs with wireless capability and basestations.
