Managing requirements for multiple product variants is a problem because of the difficulty of specifying how requirements may vary between products. CaliberRM users now have a solution to this problem - pure::variants Synchronizer - an addon for the pure::variants toolset. Synchronizer allows existing CaliberRM requirements projects to be exported to pure::variants as feature models.

Pure::variants' rich modelling language is then used to specify relations and constraints between requirements, eg that two requirements are mutually dependent.

This enriched model is then used to specify the requirements for individual variants, and, ultimately to drive the generation of the software for the variant.

The resulting models may then be imported back into CaliberRM, eg to allow traceability from requirements to product variants.

The benefits of pure::variants Synchronizer for CaliberRM include: use of existing CaliberRM projects without further work; automatic detection and resolution of problems caused by conflicting requirements; and full traceability of requirements to individual product variants.
