Lucent has selected Shenick's diversifEye integrated network and application emulation and performance assurance test system to validate its Ethernet over SDH (EoSDH) solution capabilities as a market leader in the rapidly emerging metro Ethernet services market. Commenting on the selection of Shenick diversifEye, Lucent's Chris Ford, Director of Wireline Solutions commented: "Shenick diversifEye offers Lucent the unique ability to prove to our service provider customers that we offer truly differentiated Ethernet over SDH network services with our Metropolis product range. By using the diversifEye test system, Lucent validates the QoS experience of the end customer in advance of and during deployment.

It does this by emulating and analysing each customer scenario under a variety of network conditions at both Layer 2 services and higher IP and application stream layers, all in one integrated test system".

Maser Technology Group, Shenick's South Pacific reseller is providing Lucent Australia with product deployment and support services in the region.

Maser is a specialities distributor of test and monitoring solutions for the telecomms carriers and manufacturers with offices located in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.

From proof of concept to pre turn up and daily network validation, Shenick provides an easy to use and powerful Ethernet QoS verification system.

Each Ethernet service can be configured individually to match a virtual customer model both at packet level for virtual LAN (VLAN)/LAN extension and transparent LAN services (TLS) and to also drive a diverse array of TCP/IP/UDP application flow types through those services that accurately reflects today's corporate internet mix such as client and server HTTP, e-mail, streaming, multicast IGMP and increasingly peer-to-peer traffic (P2P).

"Lucent is addressing the growing worldwide demand for Ethernet over SDH with its Metropolis solution that can really offer high quality metro Ethernet services.

It is essential that both service providers and equipment vendors akin to Lucent have a high degree of confidence in deploying these services and have the necessary systems in place to validate their products.

Lucent is leading the way by offering real proof through the use of Shenick diversifEye that business class Ethernet services are a reality, today", said Robert Winters, cofounder and Chief Marketing Officer of Shenick.
