Semrock, a leading provider of high-performance optical filters, announced today that it has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 6,809,859 for its popular BrightLine series of fluorescence filters.

This initial patent covers the unique one-piece construction that is a hallmark of all BrightLine filters.

This simple construction, made possible by recent advances in thin-film filter technology and Semrock's own innovations, is key to achieving the exceptional brightness and proven reliability of the BrightLine fluorescence filters.

The high layer-count, also covered by this patent, leads to additional performance features.

"Semrock has developed a technology that offers unprecedented levels of performance and proven reliability in fluorescence applications for the biotech and analytical instrumentation markets," said Dr Victor Mizrahi, CEO and president of Semrock.

"Our first patent to issue in this arena is testimony to the novelty and utility of our approach to manufacturing fluorescence filters."
